Respect for Acting

To write the screenplay for Brain in a Jar, I spent a lot of time thinking about Marianne, Patricia, and Maya, I even dreamed about them. When we went into production and I heard “Action!” for the first time, something shifted. Watching Birgit, Anja, and Kai embody these characters gave me the uncanny feeling that I was bending reality. But of course, I wasn’t the one with the superpower, it was the actors, willing a new world into being. As a small gesture of thanks, I made them each a miniature Brain in a Jar to take home with them.
It’s moments like these that remind me why I write, and why I build: to bring imagined worlds into physical form.
